When I saw the first trailer for The House Bunny months ago, I remember saying, "omg, I so want to see that!" Here's why: A. I love Anna Faris. LOVE. 2. I love Playboy for some weird and strange reason, can't get enough of the Girls Next Door and I would love to go party at the Mansion sometime. and C, I love dumb movies.
So of course I had to go see it on opening weekend, and what's better is that 2 of my friends even wanted to go with me. Score.
Here's the deal with The House Bunny: If you walk in knowing what to expect, you'll like it. I thought it started a little slow, and I was kind of worried, but Faris really pulled out some laughs for this one. The whole story is a dork to whore to wholesome fun girls everyone loves kind of line, but I'm all for a Cinderella story and I LOVE me some makeovers, so I was on board. I think the aim was to teach that looks aren't everything, although honestly it kind of looked like the girls were all having a lot more fun when they were dressed like hookers, so I don't really know. And I'm all for a fable but why can't you get the boy, be a house mom, AND pose for Playboy in the end? Maybe my priorities or morals or value codes are screwed up.
Anyway, go in with a light heart and I think you'll be fine. It's got plenty of T&A for the guys so it won't be terribly painful if your girlfriend drags you along. And go ahead and tell me if you don't laugh at the scene where they're at the coffee cafe outside or whatever. The 2nd date. That one.
All in all, it's not the movie of the year by any means, but it's cute and fun and I have to say I enjoyed it. And seriously, Anna Faris is awesome. She should be in movies or something.
